Job Description & How to Apply Below

Simple Thread is seeking a high-energy, process-driven Senior Account Executive to join our new business acquisition efforts. You will report directly to the director of business development, and your primary mission is to expand our footprint beyond our core accounts by identifying, prospecting, and closing new business within electric utilities, data center developers, renewable energy developers, and other organizations within the electric power space.

You thrive on opening new doors, but you also understand that complex utility sales require a disciplined, documented process.

Core Accountabilities

Outbound Prospecting and Pipeline Development

  • Target Account Hunting:
Build and execute a strategic outreach plan for your target organizations. You will be responsible for breaking into new accounts, identifying and developing champions within target organizations to navigate the conversation around why the organization must change.
  • Lead Generation:
Take full ownership of the top-of-funnel. You will work with the director of business development to conduct research, build lead lists, and manage outbound sequences to ensure a consistent flow of new opportunities.
  • Software and Services Sales:
Architect solutions that bridge the gap between legacy utility data and modern grid demands.

Market-Facing Support and Engagement

  • Consultative Discovery:
Lead discovery sessions and partner with our internal subject-matter experts to uncover high-value business problems. You must be able to move beyond "feature talk" to understand the financial and operational impact of a client’s challenges.
  • Proposal Architecture:
Pull together the necessary resources (Technical SMEs, Leadership) to build persuasive pitch decks and initial proposal drafts. You own the narrative of the sale from the first call to the final negotiation.
  • Deal Stewardship:
Navigate the complexities of utility procurement, including compliance reviews and legal requirements. You are the "quarterback" who ensures the deal moves through the client's internal hurdles to a signed contract.
  • Conference Attendance:
Attend a handful of key industry conferences per year. You will support our BD team on-site, helping to identify leads and understand emerging industry trends firsthand.
  • Feedback Loop:
Turn "what we are hearing in the field" into actionable insights for Marketing. You help prioritize the content (e.g., specific case studies) that will actually help close deals.

Sales Process and Pipeline Management

  • Pipeline Orchestration:
Monitor deal health in Hub Spot. You ensure data is accurate, stages are updated, and stakeholders/competitors are documented.
  • CRM Governance:
Act as the "Source of Truth." You take responsibility for CRM hygiene, lead routing, and the accuracy of forecasting reports for leadership.
  • Meeting Preparation:
Partner with the Director of Business Development and our design team to prepare for high-stakes calls. You ensure the team is briefed on the prospect's background and technical goals and that we have the appropriate collateral required.
  • Product-Led Growth Partnership:
You will partner with our team to identify external 'Design Partners'. You aren't just selling a license; you are selling the opportunity for a customer to help shape the future of our products to align with their needs.
  • Asset Management:
Assist in maintaining a centralized library of sales assets (case studies, whitepapers, RFP templates) so the team never has to "re-invent the wheel."
Candidate Requirements
  • Outbound Sales

    Experience:

You have years of experience in outbound enterprise sales, ideally within the Energy/Utility sector. You have a proven track record of meeting individual revenue quotas.
  • Utility Sector Familiarity:
You understand the basics of the energy industry and the general structure of electric utilities.
  • Sales Methodology:
You can follow a structured sales process and believe that rigor leads to better results.
  • Business Acumen over Feature Talk:
Must be able to link a target’s pain directly to their cost of inaction.
  • Political Mapping:
Proven ability to move from a technical influencer to the economic buyer.
  • Entrepreneurial Grit:
You are comfortable working in a scaling firm where you need to build your own "lead lists" and create your own momentum.
  • Ability to work remotely:
This is a remote position that will require you to work from home for a good portion of your responsibilities.
