Valiant Harbor International is seeking a strategic and technically skilled SBIR Technical Diligence Liaison to support the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA‑H) through its Office of Commercialization. This full‑time remote position will help ensure that small business innovation funding is uniquely impactful, efficiently allocated, and poised for long‑term success through commercialization. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in health sector research or policy, technical analysis and commercialization support.
Key Responsibilities- Develop due diligence reports on proposed SBIR topics to assess potential overlap with existing public/private funding and evaluate commercial opportunities.
- Track and analyze technical communications and outcomes from SBIR awardees; provide recommendations to Program Managers and the federal SBIR lead.
- Monitor commercial progress across the performer portfolio and advise on relevant commercialization support services (e.g., Entrepreneurs‑in‑Residence, market/IP analyses).
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new commercialization capabilities to promote sustainable growth and follow‑on funding for funded small businesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; advanced degree (Master’s, Ph.D.) preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in federal health sector research, project management, or policy development.
- Strong ability to understand and assess technical product development strategies across science, engineering, or commercial domains.
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing scientific literature and identifying redundancy or gaps through structured queries.
- Proficient in evaluating company and investor data; familiarity with tools such as Pitch Book or Crunchbase.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage teams and stakeholders across scientific and business communities.
- Previous experience in data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
EnvironmentFull time, remote; some travel anticipated.
Salary RangeNegotiable.
