The Associate Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting analyzes and forecasts financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate information for strategic and operational decisions. Establish metrics, provide data analyses, and work directly to support business intelligence. Evaluate industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization's short, medium and long-term financial and competitive position. The Associate Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting works assignments involving moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
This position is remote; however, you must be available to work within the Eastern or Central time zones.
The Associate Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting ensures data integrity by developing and executing necessary processes and controls around the flow of data. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs/issues, troubleshoot problems, conduct root cause analysis, and develop cost-effective resolutions for data anomalies. Begin to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
Exercise considerable latitude in determining goals and approaches to assignments.
Specifically, you will be supporting the Primary Care business with a focus on IBNR (Incurred but not reported) and claims analytics.
ResponsibilitiesNote:
The following responsibilities are described within the context of the role described in the overview above. They include providing data analyses, establishing metrics, and supporting strategic and operational decisions related to analytics/forecasting for healthcare actuarial work with focus on IBNR and claims analytics.
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Business or a related field
- Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation or higher
- At least three (3) years of healthcare actuarial experience
- Meet eligibility requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)
- Proficiency with Excel
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- Technical experience: SQL, Snowflake, Visual Basic or other programming skills
