This Position reports to:
Director of Sales - Traction.

The work model for the role is onsite;
Richmond, VA (Open to remote anywhere).

Responsibilities
  • Lead the provision of contract management services within the assigned area of responsibility, ensuring that all contract management activities are executed in accordance with relevant corporate/division/business policies and procedures, as well as the Contract Management Policy and Contract Management Framework.
  • Ensure the portfolio of contract management services follows contract and claim management methodologies; analyze contract terms to identify opportunities and risks, including ambiguities, omissions, and conflicts, throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support in due diligence and preparation of bid go/no-go considerations based on risk assessment of contracting environment; facilitate liaison with involved stakeholders; review and comment on tender terms and conditions including schedules and annexes; develop contract management strategy aligned with ABB policies and customer requirements and overall execution strategy, considering risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.
  • Participate in developing the contract negotiation strategy and support negotiations in line with the Contract Management Policy within the portfolio; identify contract baseline and potential risks; advise on contractual issues and ensure timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects (payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.).
  • Verify that both parties fulfill contractual obligations and assess the contract’s success; determine lessons learned for future contracting.
  • Document and communicate to appropriate parties any deficiencies found as part of the closeout process; establish and enforce standard change methodologies within the assigned scope to identify changes and quantify additional time and compensation due for ABB, define approval requirements, and communicate changes to the customer.
  • Enforce and defend ABB's contractual interests against customers and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle, including monitoring and assessment of changes and deviations; develop and implement risk mitigation and opportunity plans in coordination with business unit management and global functions; notify and liaise with the ABB Legal and Integrity function regarding major claims and critical developments during project execution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline; preference toward Electrical Engineering or advanced Electrical training.
  • 3–5 years of Key Account Management Sales and related management experience with a track record of success; 5+ years of overall professional experience.
  • Railway market knowledge and technical understanding of power control systems.
  • Business development experience; rail industry preferred.
  • Able to handle complex topics within international cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to listen and interpret real customer needs.
  • Balanced and agile behavioral competencies.
  • Travel up to 50%; ability to travel in USA, Canada and internationally on a regular basis (valid passport required).
  • Candidates must already have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
