Basic Qualifications

* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

* Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Buyer (Procurement Specialist) in our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines.

Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

General

Summary:

The Procurement Specialist (Buyer) will manage day-to-day procurement activities, lead cross functional teams to streamline processes, and analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Locate qualified sources for materials, equipment and service of a general nature to support the needs or requirements of the requester. Responsible for locating possible new sources of supply. Keep abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in assigned markets.

* Ensure company purchases represent the most favorable price consistent with quantity, quality, specification requirements, delivery and reliability of source. Analyze quotations received and selects supplier. Interview prospective vendors. Supervise the preparation of purchase orders from requisitions.

* Review purchase requisitions for completeness and proper signature authority; obtain further information or additional approvals as required.

* Obtain quotations from vendors to ensure favorable quality, price, and delivery terms; research new products and vendors, provide data to technical staff, and assist them in purchasing decisions.

* Interface with vendors, staff and management to resolve discrepancies, answer questions, and provide guidance.

* Complete purchase orders in accordance with specifications, price and policy.

* Expedite to ensure timely delivery of purchases.

* Coordinate the return of damaged goods, arrange for replacements or credits and document all transactions.

* Maintain purchasing files, logs and other records.

* Process purchasing transactions through an automated purchasing system.
