What We Are Looking For

As Manager, Product and Market Research, you will lead the delivery of in‑depth product and market research, analysis, data‑driven insights and reporting to support Payments Canada’s organizational objectives and strategic decision‑making. You will manage a small team that gathers information, analyzes it and disseminates findings to influence concrete recommendations.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in the Canadian financial system and payment systems, strong analytical skills and experience in product and market research. You will be a seasoned leader who collaborates effectively across the organization and delivers credible insights to solve payment‑related challenges.

A Day in the Life

Your responsibilities include:

  • Payment Product Analysis – Lead research and data‑driven projects that advance the company’s payment product objectives, communicating insights to a broader audience.
  • Assessment of Payment Perceptions/Behaviours – Perform market segmentation and benchmark tests to assess payment perceptions and behaviours of consumers and businesses.
  • Tracking/Reporting on Payment Trends – Guide tracking and reporting of payment volume and value trends, develop content and reports on payment market intelligence.
  • Analysis of Systems Data – Analyze systems data through reporting, modeling, metrics and forecasting, ensuring timely responses to data requests.
  • Insight Facilitation and Collaboration – Foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, coordinate preparation of internal and external presentations of research findings, and support cross‑functional teams.
What You Need to Be Successful
  • Post‑secondary degree in social sciences, research, business, economics or a relevant field of experience.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the financial or payments industry, including five (5) years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research, synthesizing complex information and presenting strategic output related to payments.
  • Experience in identifying key market segments, customer needs and market trends.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management.
  • Ability to support multiple priorities and projects.
  • Eligibility to complete background checks carried out by Payments Canada.
  • Occasional travel required.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
  • Possession of a CAIP designation is considered an asset.
Salary Range
  • Based on qualifications and experience: $105,750 to $141,000.
