Commodity Specialist – Carmel, Indiana
Working within Allegion’s Global Supply Management team, you will be responsible for supporting procurement activities which includes reporting supplier activities, running analytics on commodity spend, and managing system updates. This position works cross functionally to deliver critical information that drives cost, quality, and delivery to ensure supplier performance and meet company goals.
HybridThis role offers a dynamic hybrid work model—combining in‑person collaboration with flexibility of remote work. Hybrid arrangements can vary based on the needs of the individual, team and business; specific hybrid details will be provided by Talent Acquisition.
What You Will Do- Manage electronic supplier activities and reporting.
- Support Allegion operating systems for inflation, productivity, tariff, and other reporting activities.
- Support global commodity strategy development and execution for assigned commodities.
- Gather and review part drawings, specs, and testing/approval requirements – engage with Engineering and Operations to validate completeness.
- Prepare and conduct RFIs and RFQs with suppliers and evaluate against the commodity strategy.
- Collect and validate commodity spend for segmentation, rationalization, and project planning.
- Compile supplier financial/performance analysis for negotiations.
- Provide support between Allegion and suppliers related to quality, delivery, forecasting, payment issues, and other items as needed.
- Support development and documentation of best practices and process improvements.
- Develop or manage supplier performance metrics for the assigned commodity, including cost productivity, supplier quality, and supplier risk.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 0 to 3 years of experience; procurement sourcing experience, consulting, buyer, and/or analyst experience.
- Strong data analytics experience.
- Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Excel (e.g., pivot tables, macros, etc.) and PowerPoint.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, a motivated ‘can‑do’ attitude, and results orientation.
- Dependable team player with a positive attitude who can work with international teams.
- Responds to requests and emails in a timely manner.
- Flexibility to take on assignments as needed.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Experience with electronics, PCBAs, and components.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and methods.
- Experience with supply‑chain tools, MRP, GEP, etc.
