Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence

Job Summary

The Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence will conduct critical strategic analysis for the Stores teams at Ross and dd’s Discounts, leading to insight and actions that improve business performance. This position reports to the Director of Business Intelligence and interacts with VP+ stakeholders and Stores Leadership.

Using analytics training, the analyst processes large amounts of data to reveal store performance trends and identify root causes, summarizing results into clear written communications for Stores Leadership and Senior Executives. Responsibilities include recurring (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and ad‑hoc reporting and analysis, and establishing cross‑functional partnerships across all facets of the organization.

• Design and conduct financial and operational analyses to understand drivers of performance and identify root causes of changes in performance trends.
• Proactively identify opportunities and execute analysis to develop tangible, fact‑based recommendations to improve performance.
• Partner with key stakeholders to build and continuously improve business intelligence processes, tools, dashboards, metrics, and insights.
• Support operational and technical responsibilities that include data preparation, data warehousing, data flow, reporting integrity and accuracy, predictive analytics, and data exploration.
• Manage projects from end to end, including work plan creation, coordination with other functions, and development of support materials and verbal communication/presentation of findings and recommendations.

• Bachelor’s degree required with demonstrated superior college performance (preferably in an analytical field such as Finance, Economics, Accounting, etc.).
• Minimum of 3+ years of work experience in an analyst role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including Senior Executives, managers, and subject matter experts, and to explain analytical methodology and results to non‑technical audiences. Must clearly communicate results and implications in both verbal and written (PowerPoint) forms.
• Outstanding analytical ability – data driven approach to solving problems, very strong quantitative skills, a good sense of how to dissect problems, and a strong ability to “connect the dots”.
• Proficiency with statistical tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel), and other statistical & reporting packages.
• Passionately analytical, innately curious, and a creative thinker with the drive and self‑motivation necessary to manage in a fast‑paced, changing retail environment.
• Proven ability to develop and apply analytic solutions to solve business problems.
• Experience developing short- and long-term visions for solutions that have a significant business impact.

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. This includes sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance are required. Vision requirements:

This role requires regular in-office presence for in-person team interaction, meetings, collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, duties can be performed effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.

Base salary range: $81,000 – $121,800.

Location:

Corporate headquarters in Dublin, CA (hybrid). Remote options available.
