About the Role
Bring projects to life behind the scenes. As a Permit Specialist, you'll play a vital role in keeping utility construction projects moving—supporting gas and electric infrastructure that powers communities. You'll be the go‑to expert for project intake, permitting, and jurisdictional coordination, ensuring timelines stay on track and requirements are met with accuracy and efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, partnering cross‑functionally, and navigating the details that make large‑scale infrastructure happen.
WhatYou'll Do
- Own permit intake and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date status tracking in internal databases.
- Prepare, submit, and manage municipal permit applications—from standard requests to more complex approvals.
- Partner with customers and internal teams to gather jurisdiction‑specific project and design information.
- Coordinate critical schedule details to support successful construction timelines.
- Serve as the primary billing contact for permit‑related fees, working directly with municipal agencies to track and process invoices.
- Research permitting requirements and generate reports to support project visibility and decision‑making.
- Represent the project's interests professionally with customers and government entities.
- Contribute to team success by supporting special projects and additional responsibilities as needed.
- Background in construction, utilities, permitting, municipal services, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong construction administration and invoice processing experience.
- Familiarity with utility permits, ROW permits, and jurisdictional processes.
- Experience working with invoicing systems (SAP experience a plus).
- 1–5 years of infrastructure or utility‑based permitting experience (PUD exposure highly valued).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Comfort managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment.
- Flexible work model—choose the home office closest to you.
- Hybrid onboarding, followed by primarily remote work.
- Monthly in‑person team meetings to stay connected.
- A collaborative, down‑to‑earth team culture— with occasional outings like baseball games and family barbecues.
- Meaningful work that directly supports essential infrastructure in the communities we serve.
