Position Summary

The Business Development Director plays a key role in creating veterinary partnerships by identifying, engaging, and developing relationships with veterinary practices and related strategic animal health partners. This role supports the full business development lifecycle—from prospect identification and outreach through partnership development and practice integration / onboarding.

Working closely with senior business development leadership, this individual helps execute strategic growth initiatives, builds awareness of the organization within the veterinary community, and contributes to expanding a high-quality network of veterinary partnerships.

The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, proactive, and comfortable engaging veterinary professionals, with a strong reputation in the animal health industry.

Key Responsibilities Business Development & Outreach
  • Identify, research, and prioritize veterinary practices, and related organizations as prospective partners
  • Execute targeted outreach strategies including outreach, referrals, networking, and event engagement
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities aligned with company growth objectives
  • Conduct introductory calls and meetings to understand practice needs, challenges, and goals
Relationship Management & Industry Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with veterinarians, practice owners, and decision-makers
  • Represent Heritage Vet Partners at veterinary conferences, trade shows, veterinary schools, and association events
  • Support efforts to increase brand awareness within veterinary programs and professional organizations
  • Deliver a consistent and compelling message aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Heritage Vet Partners
Development Process & Pipeline Management
  • Support the advancement of prospects through the business development and partnership pipeline
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of leads, outreach, and pipeline activity in CRM systems
  • Assist in coordinating communication between business development and internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, M&A, leadership)
Strategic Support
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of target lists and growth strategies
  • Provide market feedback and insights from veterinary professionals to inform company strategy
  • Support onboarding and transition of new partners to ensure a smooth integration experience
Qualifications Required
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution required with five (5) years veterinary clinical practice experience. Preference will be given to those candidates with private practice ownership experience.
  • Current licensure in at least 1 state is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage veterinary and industry professionals
  • Proven ability to build rapport and establish credibility with veterinary teams or similar professional audiences
  • Self‑motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable with outbound prospecting, networking, and relationship-building
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM platforms
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly
Preferred
  • Experience working with veterinary practices and related animal health organizations
  • Existing network within the veterinary or animal health industry

  • Occasional evening or early-morning meetings to accommodate veterinary schedules
  • Combination of remote work, fieldwork, and in-person relationship building
