Principal Specialist, Global Trade (Remote, U.S.)
Responsible for owning and supporting export/import licensing and compliance activities across multiple programs within Raytheon's Advanced Technology Strategic Business Unit (SBU). Works closely with internal stakeholders to prepare, submit, activate and manage export and import authorizations for technology, technical data, hardware and services.
Responsibilities- Assist with the development of export authorization strategies for international marketing, sales, support, offshore procurement, and manufacturing of defense and dual‑use articles.
- Prepare and submit quality export/import license applications, agreements, eligible exemptions/exceptions and other requests for U.S. Government approval.
- Provide export/import authorization status updates to leadership and capture/program teams.
- Participate in strategic business engagement at the program level to ensure business execution, growth and compliance.
- Interpret ITAR and EAR regulations for SBU employees and facilitate approvals for the physical export/import of controlled goods.
- Determine and certify legal authority for exports of dual‑use commodities, technology, defense articles, hardware, technical data and defense services.
- Represent Global Trade in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement company procedures to support compliance with U.S. Government export/import regulations and internal policy.
- Participate in compliance assessments and investigations.
- Develop and deliver training for employees engaged in international business activities.
- Review and approve technical and non‑technical information prior to release to non‑U.S. persons.
- Act as a resource for entry‑level Global Trade personnel.
- Conduct record‑management activities periodically.
- University degree or equivalent experience, with at least 5 years of relevant experience (or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years).
- Experience researching and/or applying ITAR and EAR regulations.
- Experience managing export authorizations and transacting under ITAR/EAR.
- Experience with DECCS, SNAP‑R, SAP‑GT, OCR EASE or similar Global Trade tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to maintain an online presence across daily team interactions.
- Flexible and collaborative, able to adapt to changing U.S. Government and customer requirements.
- Problem‑solving skills to provide recommendations and resolve business challenges before issues arise.
- Self‑motivated, results oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under time‑sensitive circumstances.
- Attention to detail and follow‑through to achieve desired results.
- Advanced degrees such as MBA, Masters in International or Legal Studies.
- Complexities of U.S. trade laws and how to navigate them from a company policy perspective.
- Evaluating risks related to international trade.
- Developing export/import strategies to mitigate risks.
- Best practices for export documentation and international trade procedures.
- Cross‑functional collaboration within a large Global Trade organization.
Salary range: $86,800 - $165,200 USD. Full‑time benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Annual incentive compensation programs may apply.
TravelMinimal domestic travel – up to approximately once per quarter.
Security ClearanceU.S. citizenship required for DoD Secret clearance, active and existing clearance required after day 1.
