Job SummaryManages Energy Demand Management team; supports demand response personnel, market participants, Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), and nodal markets. Oversees a professional staff that serves as functional experts for all Demand Response, Load Profiling, and Automated Meter Reading (AMR) initiatives as well as other distribution‑connected resources. Prepares capital budgets for the department, and manages the development and implementation of new demand‑response, AMR and other distribution‑connected initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the Energy Demand Management team, including hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff.
- Prepare and recommend operating and capital budgets for the department.
- Oversee the ERCOT Demand Response group to develop and achieve departmental goals in support of corporate objectives.
- Manage the development and implementation of new demand response, AMR, and other distribution‑connected initiatives.
- Ensure ERCOT supports the continued evolution and success of existing markets and the new Nodal Market.
- Lead investigations and coordinate analysis to aid in the resolution of Nodal Market issues.
- Resolve market participants' concerns regarding demand response, AMR, and other distribution‑connected initiatives.
- Promote quality demand response through continuous process improvement.
- Develop and maintain strong expertise in ERCOT procedures and business rules related to demand response activities.
- Oversee demand‑response, AMR, and distribution‑connected studies, evaluate findings, and recommend initiatives.
- Prioritize initiatives for demand response and AMR improvements.
- Analyze business requirements for future system enhancements.
- Attend business meetings and collaborate with colleagues to develop best‑practice policies, procedures, and issue resolution.
- Develop and deliver Market Bulletins and presentations on business rules, protocols, and work processes.
- Serve as an expert communicator of demand response issues to governing bodies, regulatory agencies, and market participants.
- Assist with related duties as appropriate.
- 8+ years of job‑related work experience beyond degree requirements. Experience in electric utility operations and industry required. Market deregulation experience preferred. Leadership/management experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field required. Combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is acceptable.
- Master's degree preferred.
Salary will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.
Work LocationEmployees will be required to be on‑site in Taylor, TX at a minimum of 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs. Remote work may be required from a Texas residence. Employees may opt to work on‑site more than required or 100% of the time.
