The Director, Business Development will have a proven track record in building productive client relationships in the clinical research or health sciences industries. They will be responsible for designing and delivering solution‑driven capabilities and proposal defense presentations in collaboration with clinical and operational teams, creating business opportunities through client needs identification, and proactively resolving client concerns with action plans.
What you will do- Achieve individual revenue and sales objectives through proactive communication and sales of Worldwide Clinical Trials’ late phase services to assigned clients.
- Identify new contact leads for potential Phase
II‑IV business. - Develop and implement individual, territory, and key account strategies to grow and retain the client base.
- Assist in developing project proposals, including client communications, budgeting, and internal coordination.
- Coordinate and attend trade shows, make exhibition arrangements, organize meetings, and manage hospitality suite arrangements.
- Ensure trade show activities run smoothly and stay within budget.
- Conduct teleconferences, client meetings, general capabilities meetings, and bid defense meetings with key accounts.
- Provide continuous intelligence on competitors, their services, acquisitions, and pricing.
- Maintain daily updates in the CRM and provide bi‑weekly sales reports on client visits and accomplishments.
- Engage senior management in major business presentations and discussions regarding strategic accounts or top opportunities.
- Coordinate interactions between sponsors (clients) and key Worldwide team members.
- Develop new approaches to problem‑solving and devise solutions within the scope of responsibility.
- Travel as needed to pursue new business and maintain client relationships, complying with Worldwide travel policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to meet business challenges.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure without supervision.
- Excellent communication skills with a high degree of professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills—prioritizing, delegating, and evaluating work.
- Effective presentation skills, convincingly presenting features and benefits of services to clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive dialogue with clients and colleagues.
- Excellent negotiating skills.
- BA/BS in business or life sciences; MS or MBA preferred.
- Four to six years of experience in Bioanalytical Laboratory, Central Laboratory, Phase
I, IIB Clinical Research, or Contract Research Organization industries, with at least five years of prior sales experience. - Promotion to the next level based on proven competency, responsibility level, and independent work ability.
