Senior Director, Business Development
Senior Director of Business Development in a global Contract Research Organization (CRO) responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, driving revenue growth, and leading business development initiatives for late‑phase clinical services.
Responsibilities- Achieve individual revenue and sales objectives through proactive communication and sales of late‑phase services to assigned clients.
- Build and maintain productive client relationships, identifying needs and tailoring solutions.
- Develop and deliver powerful solution‑driven proposals and proposal defenses in collaboration with clinical and operational teams.
- Coordinate responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Represent the organization at industry conferences and trade shows, arranging exhibitions, meetings, and hospitality suite logistics.
- Conduct teleconferences, client meetings, general capabilities meetings, and bid defense meetings with key accounts.
- Provide continuous market intelligence on key competitors, including services, acquisitions, and pricing.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates in the CRM system and deliver bi‑weekly sales reports highlighting activities and performance.
- Engage senior management in strategic account discussions and business presentations.
- Develop and execute territory and key‑account strategies to grow and retain the client base.
- Coordinate interactions among sponsors, project directors, and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Identify new contact leads for Phase II–IV business opportunities.
- Manage travel arrangements per corporate policy, traveling nationally and internationally as needed.
- Mentor and/or manage Business Development team members (as assigned).
- BA/BS in business or life sciences; MS or MBA preferred.
- Ten (10) years of sales experience in the CRO industry.
- Clinical Operations background preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of sales methods, drug development process, and CRO practices.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and execute under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sales management software.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
