Overview

The Manager BSA Compliance is responsible for the day-to-day management of BSA processes such as suspicious activity monitoring, CTR filing, enhanced due diligence, and/or sanctions and OFAC screening. The Manager BSA Compliance must collaborate with their team while focusing on communicating with management, overseeing the distribution of work items to staff, streamlining efforts, and remaining in compliance with all BSA/AML requirements.
Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day oversight and direction for the team while assisting staff with prioritizing their work assignments.
- Help establish annual goals and objectives while providing performance feedback, talent assessments, and gap assessments to the VP BSA Compliance.
- Assign responsibilities and schedules and coordinate onboarding and training of newly hired employees.
- Maintain procedural ability and skill set to aid and supplement staff during high volume periods.
- Work suspicious activity monitoring alerts, conduct enhanced due diligence, complete or file CTRs, and/or file SARs.
- Perform quality control reviews for SAM alerts, CTR deletions, high-risk client reviews, OFAC alert dispositions, and/or SAR reviews.
- Communicate information and direction through verbal conversation, email, instant messages, and/or written communication.
- Assist the VP BSA Compliance with resource allocation, job performance evaluation, and monitoring of daily performance.
- Manage all HR needs of the BSA Compliance team, including hiring, time-off requests, FMLA, performance reviews, and merit.
- Review and update/modify team procedures and process flows annually and/or as needed.
- Recommend design of process and/or system enhancements.
- Help prepare for regulatory examinations by collecting and reviewing documents and files from request lists and answering questions and/or providing demonstrations for examiners.
- Maintain up-to-date resources in SECU's resource library.
- Assist in preparing various management reports and completing BSA/AML risk assessments.
- Support the VP BSA Compliance as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
- Five to seven years of experience in BSA/AML or comparable experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in a particular BSA skill set.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct thorough research and investigations while interpreting how laws and regulations impact financial institutions.
- Highest integrity; well-organized, efficient, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and remain flexible as priorities change.
- Self-starter able to work remotely and independently and work well with others at all levels.
- Adherence to the work schedule and attendance policy established by the manager.
- Cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.
- Fluency in English.
- Four-year degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in business and/or law enforcement, or CCUE Certification and at least five consecutive years of full-time SECU service, or an Associate of Arts degree through the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP) and five consecutive years of full-time SECU service.
- Obtain applicable compliance certifications within 12 to 24 months of hire.
- Attend training as needed to maintain certification.
Hybrid position where remote work is allowed but in-person attendance at the office is required with physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, a copy machine, and telephone should be expected.
