Reports to: Divisional Merchandise Manager

Location: In-office at the Lynnwood Home Office

Our company is searching for a talented and experienced Merchandising Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities along with a passion for retail and merchandising trends. This role involves using data to help guide our purchasing decisions and ensure our product selection meets customer demand and drives business success. Merchandise Data Analyst is responsible for designing and delivering analytic solutions for Merchandise Team Leadership.

Through a systematic process of data collection, pattern discovery and communicating meaningful recommendations for business decision makers. The Merchandise Data Analyst will partner with leaders on the Zumiez Buying and Planning Teams to identify opportunities to improve profitability through optimizing in store assortment.

The Merchandise Data Analyst will prioritize:

• Eliminate non-value processes through automation without diminishing the end user thought process
• Empower people to make good decisions to create wins for stakeholders
• Providing expertise through clear recommendations supported with relevant data sets
• Delivering regional/trade area/store prompt exception-based reports

• Collect, analyze, and interpret retail and merchandising data from various sources such as sales, inventory, customer data, and market research.
• Use statistical techniques to identify and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Develop and implement data collection systems and strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality.
• Work closely with the merchandising team to understand business needs and design reports, dashboards, and tools that aid in decision-making.
• Conduct regular and ad-hoc analyses to support day-to-day operations and long-term business planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Finance, etc.) to align strategies, share insights, and drive overall business performance.
• Assist in preparing executive-level presentations and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Continuously monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business, Computer Science or related field.
• Proven work experience as a Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, or a similar role in the Retail or E-commerce sector.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting tools and databases (SQL etc.), statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.)
• Deep understanding of retail metrics and KPIs along with knowledge of merchandising principles.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to effectively collaborate with different stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
• Thrives in an environment of ambiguity with a passion for entrepreneurship/consulting

• Ability to sit in stationary position in an office environment for extended periods of time and work on a PC without limitations

• Salary Range $70K - $75K yearly
