Statistical Research Analyst 2 – Iowa Department of Administrative Services
Location:
Des Moines, IA | Job Type: Full‑time | Salary: $50,960 – $76,190.40 per year
- Complete data entry and validation activities.
- Execute data retrieval and reporting by running queries and supplying data to stakeholders at all levels.
- Report observable data trends, analyze their impact on operational outcomes, and track performance against agency goals.
- Prepare essential documents and lead presentations to align reporting across teams.
- Use the ICON Help Desk to resolve tickets related to data provision and validation.
- Generate scheduled exception reports (daily, monthly, etc.).
- Prepare Monday Reports (Prison & BOP), ODCP reports, DOM KPI’s, strategic plan metrics, and operational plan support.
- Create, maintain, and validate advanced statistical reports, collateral materials, and website content.
- Conduct research on evidence‑based practices to inform business rule development.
- Analyze trends, impacts, and outcomes of correctional data with focus on laws, policies, programs, and minority groups.
- Attend statewide agency meetings and events to align reporting procedures with current business practices.
- Assist in facilitating meetings between the research team and internal/external providers, including preparation of draft documents, handouts, data briefs, and presentations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual statistical reports.
- Communicate findings effectively verbally and in writing; attend virtual and in‑person meetings.
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, political science, or public administration and at least two years full‑time work in statistical analysis or economic research.
- OR a total of six years of education and/or full‑time experience, where one year of full‑time experience equates to 30 semester hours of education.
- OR a master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, economics, public policy, public affairs, public administration, or business analytics.
- OR current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of full‑time work as a Statistical Research Analyst
1. - Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex data findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proven proficiency in preparing a variety of data reports.
This role supports a flexible schedule with remote work capabilities, but requires some on‑site work in Des Moines, Iowa.
Time allocation: 75% data quality and awareness tasks, 15% impact statements and special research/analysis, 10% support and content development.
