Role Overview
Principal Specialist, Global Trade
Location:
Remote, United States – U.S. Citizen required, Secret security clearance required.
Responsible for export/import licensing and compliance activities for ESSM program within Raytheon Naval Power Business Unit.
Responsibilities- Assist with development of export authorization strategies for international marketing, sales, support, offshore procurement, and manufacturing.
- Prepare and submit export/import license applications, agreements, exemptions/exceptions, and other USG approval requests.
- Provide status updates on export/import authorizations to leadership and capture/program teams.
- Participate in strategic business engagement at program level to ensure business execution, growth, and compliance.
- Interpret ITAR/EAR regulations and provide guidance to Naval Power employees.
- Facilitate approvals for the physical export/import of hardware and related transactional activities.
- Determine and certify appropriate legal authority for exports of dual‑use commodities, technology, defense articles, hardware, technical data, and services.
- Represent Global Trade in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement company procedures and instructions to support U.S. Government export/import compliance.
- Participate in compliance assessments and investigations.
- Develop and deliver training for employees engaged in international business activities.
- Review and approve technical and non‑technical information before release to non‑U.S. Persons.
- Act as a resource for entry‑level Global Trade personnel.
- Travel minimally (approximately once per quarter).
- University degree or equivalent experience; minimum 5 years relevant experience (or advanced degree with at least 3 years).
- Experience researching and applying ITAR/EAR regulations.
- Experience managing export authorizations and transactions under ITAR/EAR.
- Proficiency with Global Trade tools such as DECCS, SNAP‑R, SAP‑GT, OCR EASE or similar systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative and responsive online presence.
- Problem‑solving skills, self‑motivated, and results‑oriented.
- Attention to detail.
- Advanced degrees preferred (MBA, International or Legal Studies).
- Complexities of U.S. trade laws and policy navigation.
- Risk evaluation related to international trade.
- Export/import strategy development to mitigate risks.
- Best practices for export documentation and trade procedures.
- Cross‑functional collaboration within a Global Trade organization.
