Position: Artist Coordinator Wide 2026

Overview

Artist Coordinators (AC) undertake most administrative and leadership responsibilities for the Pre-Professional Program (3P), and Emerging Artists (EA) programs. This role provides post-secondary Artist Management or Music Business students and graduates with opportunity to build experience coordinating and administering artists concurrently.

This full-time summer contract spans 8-16 weeks, May through September. Post-secondary students are encouraged to apply as part of their co-op or work placement requirements. Contracts are funded by the Government of Canada and offered at Ontario minimum wage. Positions may not be funded in all locations.

The work structure is hybrid: employees work from home and periodically on site as needed for collaboration or in-person supervision.

Responsibilities Leadership and Management
  • Communicate and support achievement of work expectations with the team.
  • Foster a productive and creative work environment.
  • Develop music-industry knowledge through training and workshops.
  • Liaise with Community Engaged Performance (CEP) Coordinators to schedule artists for the summer season, supporting municipal agreements, festivals, events, and finding replacements for unwell artists.
  • Liaise with the professional development (PD) team to ensure artists attend all workshops.
  • Participate in rotating "Supervisor on Duty" shifts, ensuring artists work safely, arrive on time, wear the uniform shirt, follow SOD procedures, and submit end-of-shift reports.
  • Attend "Meet-Ups" as scheduled in the appropriate communities for the contract.
Administrative & Data Completions
  • Ensure artists complete and submit post-training surveys after each workshop.
  • Complete reports and administrative duties timely, including daily SOCAN data entry.
  • Provide support for staffing co-op musicians at local events.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and managers across departments.
  • Engage in daily 1:1 and group remote check-ins with musicians under supervision.
  • Help schedule activities, keep logs, maintain records, and prepare reports.
  • Approve timesheets and time-off requests for participants.
Creative and Artistic Development
  • Supervise, coordinate, plan, and oversee daily activities of 3P participants; assist EAs on request.
  • Motivate and inspire participants, facilitating growth through team and individual activities and goal-setting.
  • Assist in setting strategic long- and short-term project goals and evaluating outcomes.
  • Provide feedback to ensure company goals are met by each participant.
  • Support and uphold company policies, including safety rules, dress codes, and attendance.
  • Practice soft skills associated with artist management and arts administration.
  • Participate in and lead training and workshops in areas of expertise to develop career competencies.
Hours of Work
  • Typically 35 hours per week.
  • Includes scheduled supervision shifts on evenings and weekends (Supervisor on Duty and Office Hours).
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Near completion of a post-secondary or graduate program in Music, Music Business Studies, Audio Engineering, or equivalent work experience and knowledge.
  • One to two years of supervisory or leadership experience (e.g., peer mentors, camp counselors, instructors).
