Job Description

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Administrative Services (DAS) is recruiting for a Training Specialist 2.

This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 18. Thispositionisopento Alaska Residentsonly .

Notice of Work Site

The position requires full‑time on‑site work at Joint Base Elmendorf‑Richardson to facilitate collaboration with various divisions supported by DAS. Remote work may be permitted up to two days a week, subject to the hiring manager’s approval, and/or successful completion of probation.

What You Will Be Doing

As Training Specialist 2, you will play a critical role in developing workforce capability across the department. You will independently assess training needs, identify skill gaps, and design targeted learning solutions that translate state and department policies into clear, practical guidance across areas such as budgeting, procurement, grants, and personnel processes. In collaboration with leadership and subject matter experts, you will develop curricula, job aids, and training resources that promote consistency and compliance.

In this role, you will deliver training through a variety of methods, including in‑person, virtual, and e‑learning formats, adapting content to meet the needs of diverse audiences. You will also provide coaching, mentorship, and consultative support to help staff apply what they’ve learned and strengthen overall performance.

Additionally, you will manage and continuously improve training programs by coordinating logistics, maintaining training records and resources, and evaluating effectiveness. By applying instructional design and adult learning principles, you will ensure training remains relevant, accessible, and aligned with departmental goals.
