Company OverviewAn established and growing clinical research organization (CRO) is seeking a Business Development professional to support continued expansion within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets. The organization specializes in delivering high‑quality clinical research services with a strong emphasis on early‑phase development (phase i‑ii).
Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Business Development professional to drive new business opportunities within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, with a primary focus on Phase I and Phase II clinical research services. This individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new sponsor partnerships and will play a key role in expanding the organization’s presence in the early‑phase clinical development space.
This is a fully remote position based on the US East Coast. Title and scope will be aligned with the candidate’s experience and track record.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors, with an emphasis on Phase I–II clinical trials
- Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline to meet or exceed revenue targets
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clinical operations, outsourcing, procurement, and executive leadership
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through proposal development, contract negotiation, and close
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions and responses to RFPs
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, partnering meetings, and networking events
- Maintain accurate pipeline and activity reporting within CRM systems
- Monitor industry trends, sponsor needs, and competitive activity within early‑phase clinical research
- Proven experience in business development or sales within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry
- Demonstrated success selling clinical research services
, preferably in Phase I and/or Phase II - Strong understanding of the clinical trial lifecycle and CRO service offerings
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Self‑directed, results‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fully remote environment
- 5+ years of relevant business development experience (level dependent)
- Experience selling early‑phase (Phase I–II) clinical research services
- Prior exposure to one or more therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, CNS, rare disease, immunology, metabolic, or other relevant indications)
- Established network within small to mid‑size biotech and pharmaceutical companies
- Experience with RFP processes, bid defence meetings, and contracting
- CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce or similar)
- Competitive base salary plus bonus
