The Relationship Manager (RM) I is a strategic, client-facing role within the Client Service department. The RM elevates service excellence across the Wealth Management team and partners closely with Wealth Advisors to ensure that service commitments to clients are implemented with precision, consistency, and care. The RM oversees the execution of the firm’s service model, ensures client experiences align with the firm’s standards and values, and contributes to practice management, client retention, and business growth.
This role offers a clear career path to Relationship Manager II and III with increasing levels of strategic influence, leadership, and client engagement.
For this role, responsibilities are organized into the following areas.
- Client Experience Oversight: ensure the consistent delivery of service commitments, manage service workflows and client touchpoints, serve as a strategic liaison between clients and internal teams, and lead client follow-up initiatives post-meetings. Other duties as assigned.
- Advisor Partnership & Practice Management: partner with Wealth Advisors to support client segmentation, service tiering, and strategic planning; implement and refine the advisory team’s service model and engagement protocols; track client satisfaction metrics and retention trends; collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment and efficiency.
- Growth & Retention Support: identify opportunities to deepen client relationships, support business development for advisors during prospect meetings and onboarding, and surface client needs to inform advisor strategy and firm initiatives.
- Strong understanding of wealth management processes and service models.
- Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and resolve issues effectively.
- Leadership and mentoring experience within a team environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and workflow management tools.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
This professional role requires availability during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some tasks may require early or late hours to meet business needs. All non-exempt roles are required to record working time in the timekeeping system daily, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
Working ConditionsThe position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace. Basic technology will be provided. The role involves routine sitting and standing; no heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
CompensationBase Pay Range: $80,750 – $95,000 USD. Actual pay is based on factors including geographic location, experience, education, skills, and licenses/certifications. This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation through Mercer Advisors’ programs.
