  • Oversee the development, maintenance and implementation of ENMAX's safety management system across all operational groups, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Oversee process safety and operational or critical‑risk management across high‑hazard facilities, using barrier‑based (bowtie) approaches and verifying that critical controls for major‑accident and high‑energy exposures are in place and effective.
  • Lead 24/7 incident response, investigation and learning reviews, applying HOP‑aligned learning‑team methods along with systemic and root‑cause analysis, driving corrective actions to closure, and sharing significant learnings enterprise‑wide.
  • Ensure consistent use of ENMAX's safety reporting systems (e.g., Maximo) and processes, supporting data quality and governance so that accurate, timely safety performance reporting is available to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate ENMAX's operational perspective on safety policy with government agencies and industry organizations, and support internal and external safety audits through to closure.
  • Lead, motivate and develop team members through coaching, mentorship and project exposure using a collaborative One ENMAX approach.
Education and Experience Required
  • Relevant undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Industry‑recognized safety designation such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or Safety Codes Officer (SCO).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation combined with demonstrated safety experience considered in lieu of a safety designation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying modern safety methodologies, including HOP, serious‑injury‑and‑fatality (SIF), high‑energy hazard reduction, and learning‑based event analysis; experience leading learning teams is an asset.
  • Experience leading staff in incident response, investigation or learning reviews and implementing resulting recommendations.
  • Previous people‑leadership experience; ability to coach, mentor and develop employees in a positive, collaborative manner.
  • Experience with in utility, power generation, industrial, oil and gas, mining or other high‑hazard operating environments; experience in electricity generation operations is an asset.
  • Knowledge of process safety management frameworks and barrier‑based risk management approaches is an asset.
