ESS Senior Contract Management Specialist
The focus of the Senior Contract Management Specialist will be to support Sungrow’s contract negotiation, execution, and management within the ESS business. This position will work closely with the sales team as well as other departments that are involved in the review and execution of contracts to ensure contract compliance, commercial accuracy and smooth order execution.
The Senior Contract Management Specialist is part of the sales team and will report to the Manager – Inside Sales & Contract Management. This is a home office‑based position, and the team the Senior Contract Management specialist will be working with is spread over all time zones in the US/Canada.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Support the ESS sales team throughout each sales stage by reviewing, drafting/editing, and negotiating contracts and contract-related documents including non‑disclosure agreements, master supply agreements, purchase orders, amendments, estoppels, letters of credit, parent guarantees, IP escrow agreements.
- Participate in customer meetings remotely or in person as required for contract negotiation.
- Coordinate and track contract review and negotiation with other departments in Sungrow’s North American organization—including sales, legal, engineering, service, finance, and operations—using the contract lifecycle management platform provided. Host internal risk review meetings to ensure proper approvals are granted.
- Identify contractual risks, and provide summaries of key contractual terms and conditions.
- Promote close coordination with project management, operations and service around operational execution of contract requirements.
- Support the Contract Manager and improve contractual consistency by implementing best practices for contract negotiation.
- Help provide support on customer escalation path and coordinate with project‑specific contractual requirements.
- Timely manage a high volume of various types of procurement agreements, contract‑related documents and other related tasks.
- Be the point person for general contract information internally and train team members to run contract‑related reports as requested by management.
- Be open‑minded to new contract‑related tasks and processes.
- Business travel may be required from time to time.
- At least 5 years of contract review, redline, negotiation, and drafting experience with MSAs, NDAs, purchase agreements and similar agreements.
- Comfortable leading negotiations for contracts after training.
- Self‑starter who requires little direction and is a fast learner.
- Prior experience working with contract‑management software.
- Preferred experience working under or closely with legal in prior roles.
- Preferred: residing in a central time zone or East Coast with flexible hours as needed.
- Support the Contracts Manager and track internal contract‑related data; report to the Contracts Manager for CC&I and support that line of business.
- Support the Contracts Manager in creating and implementing process and procedures as identified.
- Ability to work on contracts from cradle to grave.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in sales administration and management.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in contract management.
- Previous experience in the renewable industry, especially on the manufacturing side, is a strong plus.
- Strong business communication skills with a strong customer focus.
- Good understanding of sales and project execution processes.
- Ability to perform preliminary reviews of agreements and obtain internal reviews from various subject matter experts.
- Ability to summarize contractual terms and risks.
- Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic, multicultural environment and be a team player.
- Travel with sales as needed to provide contractual and customer support.
- Mandarin language skills are a strong plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or a related field; relevant professional certificate or equivalent experience may be considered.
- Full time, work remotely.
