Role Description
We are looking for a seasoned Business Analyst at the VP level with 10+ years of experience in the investment banking domain. The ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in middle office and back office operations (e.g., confirmation, matching, reconciliation, clearing, and settlement) processes.
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $ and $. The specific salary offered will be based on individual qualifications, experiences, and market analysis. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award.
Role Objectives- Engage with operations and business stakeholders to capture functional and non-functional requirements.
- Translate complex business processes into clear specifications for technology teams.
- Act as SME for middle and back office workflows: trade confirmation, matching, reconciliation, clearing, and settlement.
- Provide guidance on industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with architects and developers to design scalable, efficient solutions.
- Validate functional designs and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business, operations, and technology teams.
- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to senior stakeholders.
- Define test cases and support UAT for critical workflows.
- Ensure solutions meet operational and compliance standards.
- Work with third‑party vendors (e.g., Murex, Calypso) for system enhancements and integrations.
- 10+ years as a Business Analyst in investment banking or financial services.
- Strong exposure to middle and back office processes and systems.
- Expertise in trade lifecycle, confirmation, matching, reconciliation, clearing, and settlement.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in capital markets.
- Ability to work with data models, SQL for analysis, and understand system integrations.
- Knowledge of vendor platforms (Murex, Calypso) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical capabilities.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Certifications such as CFA, FRM, or Agile BA are a plus.
- Hybrid workforce model: employees may work from home and from an SMBC office, but must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office location.
