About the Team
Hello Fresh is seeking a Weekend Senior Packaging Procurement Buyer to work directly with the operations manager to ensure food buying across the organization is tracked and managed efficiently. This position is full‑time covering a Friday‑Monday schedule (4 x 10 hour days).
The procurement team collaborates closely with all distribution centers to guarantee timely and accurate shipment of every box. There is a large group on the procurement team dedicated to making this goal achievable. Procurement is divided into various commodity categories, with this role being a part of the produce team. Other commodity groups encompass grocery, dairy, market, protein, and packaging. In support of this effort, procurement provides assistance to distribution centers seven days a week.
While most orders are delivered on weekdays, due to the perishable nature of food, we require assistance in procuring ingredients during weekends as well.
- This is a weekend role. You will be responsible for the following activities on a Friday‑Monday (Weekend 4 × 10s) schedule.
- Own purchasing and inventory management activities for a variety of food or packaging SKUs, ensuring the right product is at the right place at the right time while considering cost targets, contracted suppliers, quantity needed and logistical parameters.
- Manage key weekly operations processes including placing POs, tracking freight, managing production issues, paying invoices, analyzing data and managing inventory and capacity levels.
- Collaborate and own relationships with various Hello Fresh distribution centers, warehouse locations, and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and inventories match demand requirements to guarantee punctual deliveries and maintain inventory levels that align with production schedule. When needed, holding suppliers accountable to on‑time delivery and excellent quality.
- Resolve any unforeseen problems with suppliers relating to operations, purchasing or quality/performance quickly and professionally.
- Lead and facilitate team meetings with the warehouse and procurement teams to ensure their readiness for success each weekend.
- Drive and project‑manage cross‑functional continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and testing new processes and implementing positive change.
- Work with a team of internal high‑achievers to continue building, growing, and improving on our off‑site production capabilities.
- Support your teammates to ensure that no boxes are missed and no ingredients are substituted due to procurement issues.
- Our teams are expected to be in office a portion of the month; exact percentage is subject to change.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- 3–5 years of procurement and/or sourcing experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Passionate about food and produce.
- Independent and autonomous, able to navigate through the workday and escalating where needed.
- A leader and a team player, able to delegate and assign tasks to support the team with clarity, organization, and efficiency.
- Proactive, able to identify and address issues as they arise.
- Customer‑centric and resourceful, willing to get creative to satisfy customer needs.
- Organized and adaptable with proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and meet time‑sensitive deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑change and dynamic work environment.
