At the Thuisgekookt Foundation, we believe that a meal is more than just food. Since 2012, we have been connecting neighbors through a warm, home-cooked meal. Our volunteer home cooks prepare an extra portion for someone in the neighborhood who is (temporarily) unable to cook for themselves. In this way, we not only provide healthy food, but also connection, trust, and personal attention.

Today, our network consists of thousands of home cooks and meal recipients throughout the Netherlands. With the support of municipalities, funds, and companies, we expect to create over 3,100 new matches in 2026.

We do all of this from our office in Utrecht, where we work hard with 20 enthusiastic colleagues to help as many people as possible. We all work from home 50% of the time, so on any given day there are on average 6 or 7 colleagues present at the office. In addition, we have 9 colleagues who are active from abroad.

You ensure that the office feels even more like our second home and that everything runs smoothly and pleasantly. You know where everything is and can help colleagues with facility-related questions. The office is your domain, and we love it when you add your own personal touch and surprise us with new ideas to make it even more welcoming—whether that’s a new plant or a weekly snack.

• You take care of purchasing groceries and office supplies
• You send out promotional materials on a weekly basis
• You ensure the office is tidy and that the plants get enough water (there is a cleaner, but wiping down desks every now and then is always appreciated!)
• You provide a warm welcome to external visitors
• Where needed, you support the preparation of and activities during team days and team outings
• You help take things off our hands so we can make even more impact

• You enjoy connecting with people and have strong social skills
• You are a hands-on person and, after proper guidance and explanation, are confident taking on tasks independently
• You live in or near Utrecht
• You are available for at least 4 hours per week at our office on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday
