Black Diamond Group’s Indigenous Relations department has a full-time position for Indigenous Engagement Coordinator.
This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Relations, the Indigenous Engagement Coordinator will assist in the development, implementation and execution of Black Diamond's Indigenous and Community Relations initiatives. As a key representative for Black Diamond, the Coordinator is a subject matter expert in the field of Indigenous Relations, specifically working to maximize social and commercial benefits of Black Diamond's existing and future Indigenous Partnerships.
The Coordinator will work alongside the Manager, Indigenous Relations, and all of Black Diamond Group's Business Units providing advice, strategy and maintaining consistency in execution.
The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven individual who is deeply connected to Indigenous communities, brings applicable subject expertise and comes with the cultural credibility to represent Black Diamond as a trusted partner. You pair that community connection with sharp business acumen —navigating complex organizational dynamics, and translating a partnership approach into consistent, value-driven support across all business units.
Responsibilities- Foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated strategies that strengthen Black Diamond’s community relationships and commercial outcomes, including:
- Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous Nations, communities, and organizations
- Coordinate meetings with Chiefs, Councils, Elders, and community representatives
- Support relationship management with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Support Indigenous employment, training, and procurement initiatives
- Working on the creation of Growth and Strategic Development Plans
- Work with Black Diamond communication teams to ensure cultural protocols and respectful communication practices are followed
- Attend internal and external meetings, maintaining detailed minutes and accurate action items logs
- Drafting detailed Indigenous participation and socioeconomic strategies.
- Work alongside various Business Units to ensure consistency in approach, standards, and communication on progress
- Regular reporting on the progress of plans and initiatives
- Attend strategic conferences and trade shows
- Event planning as required
- Prepare and deliver engaging presentations to stakeholders regarding initiatives and partnerships
- 50%+ travel within Canada
- 2-5 years of relevant professional work experience
- Degree in Social Sciences, Sustainability, Business or related field
- Experience working directly with Indigenous communities
