Principal Specialist, Contracts
Location:
Remote
• U.S. citizenship is required. This remote position is for a Principal Specialist, Contracts in the Naval Airborne Systems product line within the Naval Power Strategic Business Unit.
- Analyze Requests for Proposal (RFPs), develop and review proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage contract execution.
- Lead change management actions, including Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) from directed change through negotiation and award.
- Review estimates at completion (EAC) and provide guidance to stakeholders on contractual rights and obligations.
- Collaborate with Contracts Lead, Program Directors, Senior Program Managers, Chief Engineers, Proposal Manager, Business/Estimating, and Supply Chain to construct, submit, and negotiate pricing proposals.
- Support program management and execution reviews, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Examine cost structures and delivery schedules for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify, mitigate, and resolve contractual issues.
Must Have:
- University degree (or equivalent) with minimum 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with minimum 3 years relevant experience.
- Experience with U.S. Government contracts under FAR/DFARS.
- Knowledge of contract and financial structures, pricing strategies, policy, and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, time‑management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work independently.
Preferred:
- Professional written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
- Experience with Firm Fixed Price Development contracts, contractual risk mitigation, and change management.
- Ability to multitask across multiple programs and maintain responsiveness.
- Experience in contract & financial structures such as pricing strategies, policy & procedure and/or compliance principles.
- Recognition of business and contractual issues in program performance and implementing solutions.
Minimum travel requirement is less than 5% to RTX and customer locations.
Remote position; employee must reside in one of the 50 U.S. states.
Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance program, parental leave, paid time off, holidays, and incentive compensation programs as applicable.
