About the Role
The Director of Open Innovation is a senior individual contributor responsible for originating, structuring, negotiating, and activating strategic partnerships that accelerate Beckman Coulter Life Sciences’ growth and innovation agenda. This role leads the end‑to‑end partnership lifecycle across Beckman Coulter Life Sciences—spanning opportunity identification, internal alignment, commercial negotiation, and execution. The position reports to the VP, Strategy and is part of the Strategy and Open Innovation organization.
The role is fully remote.
- Drive internal and external partnerships aligned to strategic priorities
- Serve as primary deal lead for collaboration, licensing, and technology access agreements
- Evaluate opportunities for strategic fit, technical relevance, and commercial value
- Negotiate licensing, exclusivity, milestones, and financial terms
- Manage partnerships post‑execution against defined objectives and governance
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex partnerships and licensing agreements
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional deal teams without direct authority
- Strong commercial and strategic judgment and executive‑level communication and relationship‑building skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel – 25‑30% domestic with occasional international travel
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD)
- Experience with IP‑based partnerships or joint development models
- Experience working closely with R&D and product teams
The annual salary range for this role is $150‑200K, and this position is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. Beckman Coulter Life Sciences offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
