About the RoleThe Property Manager is responsible for delivering excellent service to our investors by becoming intimately familiar with the unique operating procedures of each portfolio, executing at the highest level, and ensuring optimal portfolio performance. You will manage the resolution of complex, ever‑changing challenges while accurately managing expectations, demonstrating adaptability, meticulous attention to detail, and impeccable communication. Your portfolio will grow rapidly and across state lines, and you must exercise extreme ownership over leasing, R&M, resident services, and accounting to maintain smooth operations.
You will collaborate with the investor and act as liaison to the Roofstock organization, partnering with other departments and products as needed.
- Manage a portfolio in accordance with investors’ changing goals and objectives
- Provide excellent customer service to investors at all times
- Resolve complex problems as they arise and permanently eliminate underlying issues to prevent recurrence, while managing investors’ expectations
- Systematically assess, organize, schedule, and execute tasks using proprietary technology and centralized teams of excellence
- Proactively create tasks for Roofstock team members and follow up to ensure satisfactory completion
- Build strong virtual relationships with all other Roofstock departments
- Embrace innovation by testing software, processes, and organizational changes, and provide actionable feedback for continuous improvement
- Discuss and cross‑sell Roofstock real‑estate products when appropriate
- Oversee Onsite Managers for properties with sixteen or more apartments, coordinating onsite tasks
- Assist investors with the purchase/sale of income properties
- Represent the company in eviction‑related court hearings, including in‑person appearances for contested cases or appeals
- Active South Carolina Real Estate License
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in residential or commercial property management, or real‑estate operations (required)
- Prior experience working directly with property ownership (plus)
- Cost and revenue management experience (highly preferred)
- Tech savvy, experienced with multiple property‑management software systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self‑driven and intrinsically motivated, able to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines
- Thrives in a fast‑paced, startup environment
- Must be able to travel within the assigned area at least 10% of the time
- Travel may be required for training and off‑sites
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
This position is classified as REMOTE based in Columbia, Greenville, or Myrtle Beach, SC.
Compensation$70,000 annual base salary. The position is also eligible for a bonus based on achievement of performance objectives. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, skills, and interview performance.
Pay TransparencyOur compensation reflects several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary. Ultimately, pay will be determined by location, job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and other job‑specific factors. Roofstock is a total‑compensation company; the base salary is only part of the total compensation package.
