Overview
With the mission of creating a safe and trusted online environment for Singapore, IMDA is looking for a Manager / Senior Manager to join its Online Communications Office. This role will shape online safety regulation in Singapore and have a direct impact on enabling Singapore users to safely use online services.
The Online Communications Office:
- Ope rationalises and enforces IMDA’s regulations relating to online safety and misinformation across multiple categories of Online Communication Services, including Social Media Services and App Distribution Services.
- Develops cutting‑edge approaches to test the effectiveness of services’ systems and processes, in order to assess compliance with online safety regulations.
- Engages stakeholders within Government and Industry to ensure effective compliance with online safety regulations.
- Conducts horizon scanning of the rapidly evolving online safety harms landscape to identify and mitigate emerging online safety risks.
- Monitor and analyse emerging online safety and misinformation trends, focusing on technical developments such as child safety measures and age assurance; translate findings into actionable policy insights and regulatory recommendations.
- Develop and implement innovative, data‑driven compliance assessment approaches across a variety of online services and domain areas (e.g., social media, app stores, age assurance).
- Engage directly with industry to ope rationalise and enhance compliance with online safety regulations.
- Conduct content assessments on potentially harmful online content and take necessary regulatory action to address harmful content.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams across IMDA and the Government to ensure effective information sharing and operationalisation of online safety regulations.
- Project‑manage complex work streams and ensure timely delivery of outcomes against deadlines.
- Background in Humanities, Social Sciences, Mass Communications, Computer Science, or Data Science.
- 5‑8 years of experience in an online safety or technology‑related policy, product, programme management or operations role in the private or public sectors.
- Strong interest in online safety and good technical knowledge of how child safety and age assurance measures operate on online platforms.
- Experience leading or contributing to cross‑functional teams.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, writing and project management skills, with the ability to maintain a high‑level strategic perspective.
- Proactive, curious and inquisitive mindset to learn new things and problem‑solve independently.
- Experience working with statistics and data is an advantage.
