Customs Brokerage Specialist II

About the Role
As a Customs Brokerage Specialist II, you will review import documentation, troubleshoot discrepancies, classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and ensure shipments meet federal regulatory requirements. You'll communicate directly with customers, carriers, and international partners to keep freight moving efficiently and compliantly.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and process customs entries accurately and on time
- Review and audit commercial documents; identify and resolve discrepancies
- Apply correct HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes for duty assessment
- Communicate documentation needs with customers and foreign origins
- Coordinate freight forwarding and delivery with domestic and international carriers
- Submit customs entries via GBS-CM in a timely manner
- Scan and upload documentation into internal imaging systems
- Prepare reports, presentations, and database-driven analyses
- Maintain strong relationships with clients through proactive, clear communication
- Support weekend or holiday work on a rotational basis, as needed
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent
- Basic understanding of U.S. customs operations, regulations, and government agencies
- Familiarity with HTS codes or tariff classification (preferred but not required)
- Strong computer skills and comfort with data entry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve documentation issues
Training & Commitment Requirements
- 6 weeks onsite training (required)
- 6-month lock-in period after hire to complete all training
- 1-year product lock-in to maintain continuity and skill proficiency
After training is complete, this is a fully remote position.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Must be available for potential weekend or holiday coverage based on rotation and business needs
Commitment Requirement:
Candidate must agree to a 6-month lock-in period from the date of hire to complete all required training, followed by a 1-year product lock-in to ensure continuity and proficiency in role-specific deliverables.
