Position SummaryThe Account Executive is a strategic client leader responsible for advancing enterprise-level relationships, strengthening client partnerships across multiple levels of leadership, and identifying opportunities that position the company to win. This role goes beyond day-to-day execution by developing a broad understanding of each client's business, proactively shaping account strategy, documenting key decisions and next steps, and bringing forward creative, efficient, and effective ways to improve how work gets done.
The Account Executive supports renewals, growth opportunities, client retention, financial performance, and customer satisfaction while operating with an enterprise-first mindset.
Enterprise Client Strategy & Relationship Leadership
- Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with assigned direct clients across multiple levels of leadership, including executive stakeholders, to deepen partnership and improve long-term alignment.
- Think broadly across the enterprise to identify opportunities that improve client value, strengthen the relationship, and support company growth, retention, and financial performance.
- Operate with an enterprise-first mindset, balancing client advocacy with the broader needs of the company and moving beyond a task-based or self-preservation approach.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by anticipating needs, connecting insights across the business, and proactively bringing forward recommendations that improve outcomes.
Renewals, Upsells & Expansions
- Lead annual renewal activities with clear ownership, strategic preparation, timely execution, and disciplined follow-through.
- Identify and advance upsell, expansion, drug addition, and network opportunities by understanding client priorities, market dynamics, utilization trends, and enterprise objectives.
- Use business tools and data to identify contracting gaps, financial risks, service trends, and growth opportunities that can be translated into actionable client strategies.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure renewal and growth discussions are aligned, well documented, and positioned to support both client needs and company goals.
Strategic Account Planning
- Develop and maintain client-specific strategic account plans that connect client priorities, relationship goals, financial performance, operational risks, and enterprise growth opportunities.
- Prepare for and lead quarterly and annual business reviews with clear insights, executive-level messaging, documented outcomes, and defined follow-up actions.
- Engage clients in discussions about new network opportunities, service improvements, and strategic initiatives while negotiating within parameters established by Underwriting.
- Translate account insights into practical actions that improve retention, strengthen client confidence, and create measurable value for the business.
Internal Collaboration
- Partner cross-functionally to address client needs and escalate service issues for resolution.
- Participate in special projects and task forces as assigned.
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree with 6+ years relevant experience.
- Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of financial concepts.
- Solid project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Executive presence with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to organize and interpret information.
- Ability to work cross-functionally to resolve issues with urgency.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
