Position: Commercial Analyst (Richmond)

We're looking for a Commercial Analyst to drive commercial execution, manage contract workflows, and support cross‑functional BD initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Cross‑Functional Support & Operational Alignment
    • Support execution of multi‑team approvals and engagement throughout the sales cycle (proposal and contract approvals, compliance, and financial accuracy).
    • Support teams in preparing materials for executive reviews and routine pipeline reporting.
    • Maintain internal documentation, playbooks, and process maps for contract handling and invoicing workflows.
    • Assist in building scalable processes that improve BD efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and strengthen governance.
  • Contract Execution & Documentation Management
    • Coordinate end‑to‑end contract execution, ensuring all paperwork is complete, accurate, and approved per internal policies.
    • Maintain version control, track contractual updates, and route updates through Legal and executive approvers.
    • Develop contract summaries and update CRM with required documents.
    • Ensure contract data is organized and accessible in internal systems.
    • Manage vendor registration and updates.
  • Invoicing, Financial Balancing & Reconciliation
    • Support Operations and Finance with invoicing based on contractual terms and delivery schedules.
    • Track and update master sheet on invoicing specifics per contract.
    • Prepare data summaries including data storage costs, subscription charges, etc.
    • Reconcile billing discrepancies with Finance, BD, and Operations.
    • Track and report PO consumption to BD and Operations for continuous operations.
  • Market, Competitor & Industry Analysis
    • Conduct research on market trends, exploration activity, budget cycles, and regional economics.
    • Summarize insights into monthly or quarterly BD briefings for strategic planning.
    • Maintain structured competitor landscape: product offerings, pricing models, partnerships, tech differentiation.
    • Provide insights on market share, win/loss drivers, competitive threats/opportunities.
  • Reporting & Analytics
    • Support cross‑departmental reports for pipeline health, contract status, invoicing accuracy, and competitive trends via CRM.
    • Provide ad‑hoc analyses to support pricing, bundling, renewals, and growth strategies.
  • Process Improvement & Risk Management
    • Identify inefficiencies or gaps in contract execution, approval routing, or invoicing workflows and propose solutions.
    • Support implementation of new tools, templates, and automation opportunities that streamline BD processes.
Must Have
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial, sales operations, or contract‑focused role with cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Proven experience navigating procurement organizations on either the buyer or seller side.
  • Highly detail‑oriented with a commercial mindset balancing accuracy, governance, and business priorities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; able to document, summarize, and communicate across teams.
  • Self‑starter, proactive, ownership‑driven, and able to independently drive projects from initiation to completion.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced work environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in the mining industry or related industrial sector (e.g., energy, infrastructure, engineering services).
  • Multilingual capabilities, especially Spanish and/or French, in addition to English.
  • Experience supporting end‑to‑end sales or commercial cycles and invoicing support.
  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRMs.
