Back Office for Organizing in Michigan (BOOM) LLC
Position Overview: In partnership with the Compliance Director, the Campaign Finance Generalist will support BOOM's compliance infrastructure across campaign finance, contracts, grant restrictions, regulatory filings, and proactive audit systems, and ensure electoral compliance for BOOM and its network of Michigan-based organizations and entities. This role requires a hard‑working, organized, flexible, meticulous, and empathetic compliance professional dedicated to supporting transformative social change.

This is a full‑time exempt position. Must be a Michigan resident. Remote position, with very limited travel. Reliable internet access is required. Salary range for this position is $65,000‑75,000/year.

Primary ResponsibilitiesRole and Responsibilities:
Compliance Management:
- Manage 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), PAC, and Ballot Committee compliance; track income and expenses, file campaign finance reports
- Prepare and submit lobbying and election‑related reports and filings
- Support regulatory filings and related documentation across campaign finance, lobbying, corporate, tax, benefits, and org compliance areas
Operational Support:
- Work in partnership with the Finance team to monitor expenditure tracking systems and the creation of financial records for reporting purposes
- Review lease and grant agreements
- Administer contracts
- Track lobby expenditures and submit lobby agent reports
- Maintain compliance files and documentation systems to support proactive audits
- Other duties as assigned
Key
Qualifications:
As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of social, economic, and racial justice and be driven by the mission of BOOM and its partners; cultural competence and experience working within diverse communities and staff required.
- At least 5 years of combined compliance or campaign operations experience required.
- Working knowledge of fiscal and legal entities, including 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), PACs, LLCs and Ballot Committees.
- Expert knowledge of Michigan’s Bureau of Elections, campaign finance, and lobby agent requirements and reporting system (Michigan Transparency Network, MiTN).
- Working knowledge of Airtable, Docusign, Freshdesk, Google Workspace preferred.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of certifications and experience required.
- Excellent time and project management skills; a nimble self‑starter with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks at one time.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. A systems‑thinker. Not afraid to take initiative.

Forward, the Michigan Education Justice Coalition and the Urban Core Collective, BOOM serves as a back‑office hub to meet the growing needs of base‑building organizations, allowing them to focus on programmatic and organizing priorities.
