Business Systems/ Tech Analyst
Position Summary
Through strong knowledge of the organization’s technology infrastructure and specific software applications, the Business Analyst helps the business address changes through technology. The role involves understanding business change needs, assessing impacts, capturing, analyzing, documenting and managing requirements, and supporting communication and delivery of those requirements with relevant parties. The analyst prepares business cases in collaboration with university partners and works with the Project Manager to define approaches for requirements elicitation, documentation, management, and communication.
Responsibilities- Assess impact of business change needs and capture, document, and manage requirements.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to define approach for requirements elicitation, documentation, management, and communication.
- Analyze current state or conduct root‑cause analysis as required.
- Select and apply modeling techniques for requirements analysis (scope, process, rules, data, interface models, etc.).
- Support requirements validation across scope, user acceptance, implementation, and deployment.
- Perform feasibility analysis for projects.
- Coordinate planning activities to meet objectives and timelines of overall program or project.
- Gather, review, and analyze data and system requirements; document requirements, establish scope, and determine evaluation strategy.
- Translate and simplify requirements for technical and business audiences; perform gap analysis in collaboration with technical teams.
- Use business process modeling, traceability, and quality management techniques per methodology.
- Collaborate with project management to obtain project‑plan approvals for requirements.
- Prioritize completion of tasks and resolve issues to ensure compliance with project deliverables.
- Support large project assignments and other initiatives as assigned.
- Coordinate activities with other business analysts.
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement plans for business analysis.
- Develop and monitor metrics for long‑term solution performance.
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience; minimum 4 years analyzing business processes and data.
Preferred certifications:
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) – International Institute of Business Analysis, Professional in Business Analysis (PMI‑PBA) – Project Management Institute.

Full‑time, predominantly remote with occasional onsite visits to various university offices. Normal office environment; primarily seated at desk or table, using office equipment.
