Job Summary
The Research Security and Export Control Office at UW-Madison, within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR), is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with federal research security requirements and U.S. export control laws while supporting broader objectives. The Program Manager leads UW-Madison’s research security compliance program, supports export control, conducts risk assessments, provides guidance, develops policies, and coordinates training.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and oversight to university personnel on compliance, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and maintain institutional policies to ensure compliance.
- Consult for resolution of policy violations involving students, employees, visitors, guests, and applicants.
- Direct operational activities and staff resources for compliance implementation, including outreach, support, and investigations.
- Lead awareness initiatives on laws and their purpose.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert on affiliated matters for internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience interpreting and implementing government regulations.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic compliance environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal stakeholder engagement skills.
- Background in public policy, international affairs, law, or political science.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Experience in research administration.
- Familiarity with NSPM-33 or related research security requirements and risk mitigation strategies.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Compensation & Benefits- Minimum annual salary $90,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Regular, full‑time.
Remote WorkPartial remote work up to 40% (2 days per week) is available.
