Position: Strategy Team Leader, Strategy Support - Lakeland

Description

As an extension of the CEO’s office, the Strategy Support department is responsible for helping Publix leadership turn strategic priorities into well‑executed outcomes that improve performance and enable long‑term growth. The team brings clarity to priorities, aligns leaders and teams, and drives disciplined execution—delivering speed and impact on the initiatives that matter most. As a Strategy Team Leader, you serve as an internal consultant and trusted thought partner to senior leaders—helping them shape long‑term strategy, translate ambition into action, and drive disciplined execution.

In this role, roughly 45–50% of initiatives are spent leading recommendation efforts, tackling ambiguous enterprise problems, and providing the analysis and context leaders need to assess options, costs, and tradeoffs. Ideal candidates have the skills to lead without authority, driving large project teams to deliver quality and accurate information quickly and efficiently. You partner with your assigned business area's vice president and leadership team to define five‑year strategic trajectories and measure progress towards those goals.

Additionally, you collaborate across business area leadership teams to lead multiple complex, cross‑functional initiatives. In Publix's corporate offices, we value in‑person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. Many of Publix's corporate offices offer work from home up to one day a week. Each business area implements their policy differently and should be discussed during interviews.

What you’ll do
  • Lead cross‑functional teams to execute enterprise and business‑area strategic initiatives with measurable outcomes
  • Establish trust‑based relationships and respectfully challenge assumptions
  • Facilitate strategic planning, scorecard development, and quarterly strategy reviews
  • Apply structured strategic frameworks to support decision‑making
  • Develop executive‑level plans, scopes, and decision materials
  • Manage initiative execution using disciplined project management practices
  • Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines
  • Oversee change management and communication efforts to enable adoption
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business, accounting, engineering, psychology, or related analytical discipline, or a combination of equivalent work, formal training, or certification experience
  • At least five years of work experience in a corporate environment with at least three years of that experience in a strategic project management role
  • Expertise in developing, interpreting, and leveraging key performance indicators (KPIs), balanced scorecards, and other success measures at both the business area and enterprise level
  • Mastery of research methodologies, data synthesis, and evidence‑based problem‑solving techniques to inform strategic planning and operational improvements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable adjusting approach based on the audience and often having to negotiate and persuade
  • Strong command of learning agility principles, including the ability to rapidly assimilate complex information, conduct independent research, form and test hypotheses, and thoughtfully consider opposing viewpoints
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, researching and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of large‑scale organizational development and change management concepts, and communication techniques
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Ability to develop strong‑working relationships and advise leaders
  • Willingness to travel occasionally with overnight stays, work a variable work schedule, including extended hours and weekends as business needs require
  • Knowledge of PowerBI reporting
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Must be at least 20 years old, willing to operate a vehicle and have driving record verified
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in business, engineering, accounting, psychology or related analytical discipline
  • Seven or more years of work experience in a corporate environment with at least five years of that experience…
