Job SummaryThis role drives regulatory & compliance strategy and cross-functional alignment to keep our products and communications aligned with evolving federal and state requirements for CBD and other botanical wellness supplements. The Regulatory & Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring Medterra’s product and marketing compliance across all 50 U.S. states. This is a mission-critical position that supports product safety, regulatory trust, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of Medterra’s compliance framework for ingestible and topical botanical wellness products.
- Review and approve product labels, packaging, website content, and marketing assets (including UGC and influencer content) to ensure they meet FDA, FTC, and state-specific guidelines.
- Track and interpret federal and state-by-state CBD/hemp legislation and provide timely insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Draft and manage regulatory communications, including internal memos and responses to agency inquiries.
- Oversee regulatory audits and internal reviews to support business continuity and preparedness.
- Partner with operations, legal, marketing, sales, and customer service to drive cross-functional regulatory alignment.
- Develop SOPs, compliance checklists, and scalable workflows to support internal training and consistency.
- Own state registration process by product, ensuring all registrations are up to date.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- 7+ years of experience in regulatory affairs or compliance within the cannabis, CBD, dietary supplement, or CPG industries
- Expert knowledge of FDA, FTC, and state-level regulatory requirements for ingestible and topical CBD/hemp products
- Strong writing skills with experience in regulatory documentation, SOPs, and executive briefings
- Track record of managing multi-state compliance programs, preferably in a DTC-first environment
- Comfortable interpreting legal guidance and collaborating with legal departments
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
Preferred
- FDA warning letter or cure response experience
- Experience working with e-commerce compliance (website audits, SEO claims, shipping restrictions)
- Proficiency in collaborative compliance tracking tools
- Multi-jurisdictional labeling or universal packaging development experience
- Timely and accurate label and asset approvals with zero regulatory citations
- Proactive identification of regulatory risks and successful mitigation plans implemented
- Team training and SOP adherence rates across key functional departments
