Court Operations Lead worker II
Hennepin County District Court is seeking to fill a Court Operations Lead worker II position in the Brookdale Criminal Division.
The Lead worker serves as a division leader and positive role model by utilizing specialized clerical knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of division practices to contribute to the District's mission, vision, and values. This position requires excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently and delegate responsibilities when appropriate. This position provides excellent customer service, staff training, and operational support responsibilities.
The Lead worker performs highly advanced case processing in a timely manner and excels at managing competing responsibilities in a high-performance environment.
The Brookdale Courthouse handles solely misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases for the communities of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Corcoran, Crystal, Dayton, Golden Valley, Greenfield, Hanover, Maple Grove, New Hope, Osseo, Robbinsdale, Rockford, Rogers, and St. Anthony.
Example of Duties
- Provide work direction to staff including reviewing work for accuracy and compliance, coordinating workflows, monitoring workloads and coverage, and leading the unit through change in conjunction with management
- Communicate with management on work progress, personnel issues, backlogs, and assist staff in meeting performance standards
- Convey information to the unit from the supervisors and oversee the unit in the supervisors' absence
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for division staff, using advanced knowledge, expertise, and independent judgement to answer questions, address highly complex, unique, and/or urgent case processing situations, and independently resolve problems with limited, conflicting, or no guidance
- Develop and oversee staff training and related materials, lead or coordinate division/team meetings, and guide local efforts for district and/or statewide projects to ensure deadlines are met
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with justice partners and serve as a liaison to independently address and resolve issues brought forth by stakeholders
- Compile and analyze reports; monitor processes to identify trends and proactively make recommendations to supervisors for improvements
- Maintain documentation of and explain new court policies, processes, and procedures to unit staff
Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience as a Court Operations Associate, Court Operations Specialist, Lead worker I or II, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of current Hennepin County District Court Criminal Division policies and procedures
- Experience providing technical and procedural training
- Experience reviewing work of others for accuracy and providing feedback for corrective action
- Experience writing job procedures and developing training materials in a clear and concise manner
- Working knowledge of current case processing procedures including processing of financials, court procedures and policies related to both the administrative office and courtroom functions, and the ability to apply these as needed
- Proficient in the court's case processing system (MNCIS), Microsoft applications, and Share Point
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in problem solving including consulting various resources, analyzing different situations, and determining the best solution with limited, conflicting, or no guidance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other job-related software
- Skill in providing comprehensive training and guidance over daily work while building and maintaining effective working relationships within the team
- Ability to read and interpret legal documents of varying types and complexity and apply knowledge of specific laws, statutes, and rules
- Effective oral and written communication, as well as the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to handle confidential matters and files appropriately, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies, and statutes
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism when interacting with stakeholders within and outside the Judicial Branch

Logistics
The Brookdale team is located in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota at 6125 Shingle Creek Pkwy, Suite 200 (first floor.) The courthouse has free parking available and is located near major freeways making for a convenient commute. This is a primarily in office position with limited remote work opportunities. The core hours for this position are 8:00 am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, but may vary depending on the assignment and operational needs of the division.
