Position: Contracts Manager (Remote, Phoenix)

Position Summary

As a Contracts Manager on our growing contracts and compliance team, you will be a key player in supporting the full lifecycle of government-related agreements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—legal, sales, product, operations, and finance—to review, redline, negotiate, and manage a wide range of contracts. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, solutions-driven professional with the flexibility and initiative to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

This role demands a self-starter who can operate independently, drive contracts to closure, and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end state and local government contracting processes beginning with request for proposal or sole source opportunity through wind-down in accordance with applicable regulations, statutes and laws for contracts in the Contract Manager's region.
  • Support cradle-to-grave contract lifecycle activities including intake, review, negotiation, execution, compliance monitoring, amendments, and close-out.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations, deliverables, and risk mitigation measures are understood and actionable.
  • Coordinate contract approvals and documentation in alignment with internal Delegation of Authority (DOA) and governance frameworks.
  • Provide guidance to internal clients on contractual interpretation, risk exposure, and escalation paths.
  • Maintain accurate contract records and data in our CLM system (Cobblestone/Salesforce), identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Maintain compliance artifacts in Microsoft SharePoint/tools.
  • Help develop and refine contract templates, playbooks, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting obligations in collaboration with Finance, Legal, and Executive leadership.
Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of contract management experience in a corporate or government contracting environment.
  • Prior experience working in small to mid-sized companies or startups where cross-functional collaboration and wearing multiple hats is required.
  • Proficient in contract law principles, drafting, redlining, and negotiation.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management systems and tools (Cobblestone, Salesforce, or similar).
  • Familiarity with government contracts, especially state and local (SLED) contracting, cooperative agreements, and flow-down requirements.
  • NCMA certification is strongly preferred (CCMA, CFCM, or CPCM).
Contracting Expertise
  • Proven cradle-to-grave experience across a diverse contract portfolio resulting from sole source or RFx opportunities, including SaaS or subscription-based agreements, licensing and IP-heavy agreements, data privacy/data sharing agreements, subcontractor and teaming agreements (although our team does not process subcontract/teaming agreements, previous experience is preferred to be an effective partner with our Supply Chain counterpart).
  • Strong redlining skills and understanding of risk clauses (indemnity, limitation of liability, termination, etc.)
Systems & Process Orientation
  • Experience with or appetite for CLM administration (Cobblestone preferred) and Salesforce workflows.
  • Process-minded with a desire to automate, improve turnaround time, and reduce administrative overhead.
  • Strong documentation habits (e.g., audit trails, intake logs, approvals).
Workstyle & Soft Skills
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity with minimal direction, able to prioritize, make judgment calls, and move work forward without delay.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High emotional intelligence and professional polish when interacting with internal teams and public sector clients.
  • Collaborative team player who brings solutions, not just issues.
  • Strong critical thinking skills combined with creative problem-solving ability.
  • JD or contract management certifications is a plus.
  • Business/governme…
