- Manage complex contracting and negotiations for fee-for-service and value-based reimbursements (e.g., hospital systems, ancillary services, physician groups).
- Build relationships that nurture provider partnerships and seek broader value‑based business opportunities to support the local market strategy.
- Initiate and maintain effective communication channels with matrix partners including Claims Operations, Medical Management, Credentialing, Legal, Medical Economics, Compliance, Sales & Marketing, and Service.
- Contribute to the development of alternative network initiatives.
- Provide direction on developing network analytics required for the network solution.
- Work to meet unit cost targets while preserving an adequate network, to achieve and maintain Cigna’s competitive position.
- Create and manage initiatives that improve total medical cost and quality.
- Drive change with external provider partners by assessing clinical informatics and offering consultative expertise to assist with total medical cost initiatives.
- Prepare, analyze, review, and project financial impact of larger or complex provider contracts and alternate contract terms.
- Draft healthcare provider agreements that meet internal operational standards and external provider expectations.
- Ensure accurate implementation and administration through matrix partners.
- Assist in resolving elevated and complex provider service complaints.
- Research problems and negotiate with internal/external partners/customers to resolve highly complex and/or escalated issues.
- Manage key provider relationships and serve as the critical interface with providers and business staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of providers in an assigned geographic area through understanding interrelationships and the competitive landscape.
- Ensure accurate and timely contract loading, submissions and interface with matrix partners for network implementation and maintenance.
- Provide guidance or expertise to less experienced specialists.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance, Economics, Healthcare, or Business (industry experience may substitute).
- MBA or MHA preferred.
- 3+ years of Managed Care contracting and negotiating experience involving complex delivery systems and organizations.
- Experience in developing and managing key provider relationships.
- Knowledge of complex reimbursement methodologies, including incentive‑based models.
- Experience seeking, building, and nurturing strong external relationships with provider partners.
- Intimate understanding of hospital, managed care, and provider business models.
- Team player with proven ability to develop strong working relationships within a fast‑paced, matrix organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with formal presentations.
- Customer‑centric and interpersonal skills.
- Superior problem‑solving, decision‑making, negotiating skills and financial acumen.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office tools.

Annual salary range: $92,000 – $153,300 USD, depending on relevant factors including experience and geographic location. This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
