We are looking for an Assistant Dock Manager to support the Brunswick Freedom Boat Club’s “Brandord” location. In this temporary/seasonal role, you will provide exceptional service to members, maintain a clean fleet, and ensure smooth daily operations while the Dock Manager is absent.
Position OverviewThe Assistant Dock Manager will work closely with the Dock Staff to manage logistics, perform dockhand duties, oversee a weekly maintenance schedule, and handle member interactions. The position requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and it ends in October/November.
Essential Functions- Train and mentor dock-level personnel to deliver high‑quality service to all club members.
- Maintain a cooperative, team attitude while working with supervisors and fellow employees.
- Develop the monthly dock‑staff schedule in coordination with the club manager; the assistant must be scheduled on all days the manager is absent.
- Follow all best practices detailed in the dock manual to provide consistent service.
- Ensure dock staff delivers the “Red Carpet” treatment, including member meet‑and‑greet, boarding, and disembarking procedures.
- Verify weekly vessel maintenance schedules are followed for routine deep cleaning as outlined in the manual.
- Use Fleetio to submit work orders to the Fleet Manager for timely fleet maintenance.
- Investigate member misconduct, submit incident reports to the main office, and correspond with members on dock‑related issues when the manager is unavailable.
- Maintain adequate supply levels at the location.
- Assist the club manager with weekly paperwork submissions to the home office.
- Track fuel logs and vessel fueling.
- Become familiar with local waterways and popular boating destinations while adhering to safety policies.
- Ensure boats are clean and members are satisfied.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Successful background/education check and drug screen.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
- Willingness to perform minor boat maintenance (e.g., engine oil, drive oil, filters, bilge pump).
- Physical capability to bend, kneel, balance, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use handheld tablets effectively.
- Commitment to all safety policies.
- Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Experience working around boats.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and positive during periods of high activity.
- Positive, cooperative attitude and ability to work unsupervised.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Work on docks that may be fixed or floating.
- Work near and on the water.
- Move on, off, and in vessels safely under varying tide and weather conditions.
Hourly pay range: $18.50 – $19.50. Salary may vary based on experience, knowledge, and business needs. The position is non‑exempt and eligible for overtime. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with up to 4% match, a wellness program, and product purchase discounts.
