Business Impact & Continuity Specialist
The New Jersey Courts are seeking a detail-oriented Business Impact & Continuity Specialist to lead the Judiciary's Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Continuity of Operations (COOP), and Disaster Recovery program. This position focuses on developing, documenting, and maintaining comprehensive continuity plans that support the Judiciary's essential operations across all divisions and vicinages. While this position does involve some technical duties, it is not focused on computer systems or information technology rather the day to day operations of the court.
The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify critical business functions, evaluate operational dependencies, document continuity strategies, and help ensure the courts are prepared to maintain essential services during disruptions. This role emphasizes research, analysis, planning, policy development, and written documentation to strengthen organizational resilience and support uninterrupted court operations.
REMOTE WORK:
The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Judiciary's Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Disaster Recovery, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) program.
- Partner with court divisions and vicinages to identify essential business functions, evaluate operational risks and dependencies, and establish recovery priorities and continuity strategies.
- Review business processes and operational workflows to identify opportunities that strengthen organizational resilience and continuity of court operations.
- Develop, maintain, and update continuity plans, policies, procedures, guidance documents, and performance measures to support program effectiveness.
- Facilitate meetings and planning sessions with stakeholders to gather information, document critical functions, and support continuity planning initiatives.
- Design and deliver training, workshops, tabletop exercises, and other preparedness activities to promote continuity awareness and test organizational readiness.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate continuity planning efforts and support enterprise-wide preparedness initiatives.
- Assist with health, safety, and workplace risk management initiatives, including ergonomic evaluations, as needed.
- Travel throughout New Jersey to provide program support, training, and consultation. A vehicle will be provided in accordance with the Judiciary's Travel Policy.
Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
QualificationsGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and five (5) years of professional experience, including two (2) years in business continuity, emergency management, organizational resilience, risk management, public administration, or a closely related field.
Qualifying experience must include developing or supporting Business Impact Analyses (BIA), Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning, disaster recovery, emergency preparedness, or other organizational continuity initiatives. Experience should demonstrate the ability to gather and analyze information, develop written plans and procedures, facilitate collaboration with stakeholders, and support the implementation and maintenance of continuity programs within a complex organization.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience developing business impact analyses, continuity plans, disaster recovery, emergency preparedness plans, or organizational resilience initiatives.
- Knowledge of business continuity principles, risk assessment methodologies, continuity planning, and organizational preparedness frameworks.
