Senior Health Economist – Costello Medical
Do you have experience of successfully conceptualizing, developing and communicating health economic models that demonstrate the value of new healthcare interventions? As a Senior Health Economist at Costello Medical, you will provide strategic advice to clients from model conceptualization through to building the model and interpreting results. You will also be central to quality control of the project and provide constructive feedback to junior Health Economists. In addition to your own technical work, you will contribute to business development, maintain client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
Mentoring Health Economist Interns and progressing to a Consultant Health Economist role are potential growth paths.
- Develop health economic models to inform resource allocation decisions in the healthcare sector.
- Communicate insights and model results to stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds.
- Provide strategic advice throughout the model lifecycle—from conceptualisation to interpretation.
- Ensure high‑quality project delivery and oversee quality control processes.
- Train and give constructive feedback to junior Health Economists.
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships, acting as a point of contact.
- Identify business development opportunities and contribute to project proposals.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience applying economic and mathematical modelling techniques within an industry setting (pharmaceutical, medical devices, or consulting).
- Experience working on health economic projects directly with clients from initiation to completion.
- Ability to lead a project team, delegate tasks, and manage multiple project timelines.
- Proven ability to build robust and sustainable client relationships.
- Degree or higher qualification in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, economics, physics, computer science) with a minimum GPA of 3.3; postgraduate training in statistics or health‑economic modelling is desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex modelling techniques to non‑experts.
- Advanced skills in Excel and VBA; proficiency in R, C++, or STATA is an advantage.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and initiative.
- Prior experience mentoring colleagues in any setting.
- Willingness to learn additional technical and programming skills.
This role is available in our Boston, MA and New York, NY offices. It offers a hybrid working arrangement with up to 50% of time working from home over a 2‑week rolling period, and an additional 4 weeks of remote work outside Massachusetts per annum.
Start Date & Role TypeRecruiting for start dates throughout 2026; the role is full‑time and permanent.
Compensation & Benefits- Starting salary: $100,000 – $125,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.
- Discretionary profit‑share bonus paid twice per year.
