The OpportunityAs our Senior Merchant, you will play an important role in shaping the product strategy behind Poppy & Peonies’ continued growth. Working closely with the Design and Creative teams, you will lead assortment strategy, category growth, and the product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring every product feels true to our brand, resonates with our customers, and supports commercial success.
More About the Role- Lead assortment planning and category strategy across Poppy & Peonies’ product portfolio.
- Analyze product performance data to identify opportunities for growth, optimization, and category expansion.
- Partner closely with the Design and Creative team to shape product direction, ensuring concepts align with both brand vision and commercial performance.
- Bring a strong trend‑forward perspective, continuously monitoring the handbag and accessories market, competitor activity, and emerging styles to inform product decisions.
- Identify emerging trends and customer needs that can inform new product opportunities.
- Develop pricing and product positioning strategies that support both brand perception and margin targets.
- Evaluate product performance across key metrics including revenue, margin, and sell‑through.
- Work closely with marketing teams to support product storytelling, launches, and campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Inventory Planner to ensure inventory levels align with product demand and assortment strategy.
- Continuously evaluate the product portfolio to identify opportunities to refine the assortment and strengthen top‑performing categories.
- Support the expansion of Poppy & Peonies into new product categories and markets.
- 6+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, or product strategy within the handbag industry.
- Direct experience in handbag or accessories buying/merchandising, with a strong understanding of the category.
- High trend awareness and deep immersion in the handbag and accessories space.
- Understanding of how product, pricing, and positioning influence customer demand.
- Highly collaborative and enjoy working cross‑functionally with marketing, product, and operations teams.
- Thrives in fast‑growing environments where product strategy plays a key role in business success.
- Strong business judgment and confidence to make recommendations that influence product direction.
- Experience with in consumer brands, fashion, accessories, or DTC e‑commerce is a strong asset.
We’re a fully remote team spread across North America. While this role is fully remote, there may be opportunities for domestic or international travel for team get‑togethers, special events, and occasional in‑person meetings.
Interview ProcessAnnual salary ranges from $110,000-$140,000 USD.
