Specialty Engineering - Technical Cost Management applies its unique and powerful combination of analytical and technical skills to increase RMS revenue and profit growth. Technical Cost integrates and synthesizes data from diverse sources to drive extraordinary business results. This role requires the ability to drive 1-on-1 engagement with subject matter expert engineers; rapidly develop robust cost models that those engineers and their Integrated Product Teams can believe and use;

learn new subject matter, often under time pressure; and build, document, and improve complex processes.

The work includes:

• Managing yourself and your relationships with your colleagues while working on multiple simultaneous projects with large numbers of participants.
• Using multiple digital systems to gather, manipulate and record data.
• Leveraging relationships to help find answers when you cannot find the data that you need.
• Building and documenting models that accurately forecast many different types of costs for RMS' products, based on the data that you collect.
• Writing documentation that explains your models, consistently documenting process, and creating audience-appropriate presentations.
• Making your (and your team members') cost models accessible to others by building and testing prototypes of web interfaces.
• Other duties as needed or required to make life easier and better for your coworkers.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who:

• Has strong customer relationship building skills.
• Has an understanding of non-recurring material, labor and sustainment costs.
• Possesses in-depth knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes.
• Has a strong understanding of commodity pricing.
• Knows how to interpret engineering data.
• Knows cost modeling software.
• Has previous experience developing cost modeling algorithms.

Desired skills include:

• Advanced engineering/systems thinking ability to visualize complex systems, assess second- and third-order effects, and apply quantitative reasoning.
• Statistical expertise with a strong grasp of descriptive statistics; experience on projects with significant statistical components.
• Accounting knowledge with understanding of overhead allocation and cost-allocation principles; coursework or experience in accounting/business administration is a plus.
• Information-management proficiency with experience structuring, presenting, or designing information (e.g., UI/UX, library/information science).
• Qualitative-data capability with a background in disciplines such as history, anthropology, or sociology that involve synthesizing large volumes of qualitative information.

This position offers full-time remote telework with a 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week schedule. Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,400 - $129,260. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Benefits offered:
