Benefits Consultant - Remote; DC, Maryland, Virginia

Role Overview

The Benefits Consultant works to retain clients and their existing book of business. The consultant oversees strategy, financial analysis, benefit design, plan renewals, benchmarking, and overall service delivery, and communicates One Digital’s value proposition and industry trends to active clients.

• Develop sophisticated benefit design and renewal strategies and drive solutions to address complex client issues.
• Work closely with account management and client service teams on pre‑renewal strategy, RFP distribution, open enrollment strategy, and post‑renewal analysis.
• Determine the full scope of services to be provided to clients and establish timelines with client service teams.
• Maintain accountability for revenue and profitability for client accounts and projects.
• Monitor project success in terms of scope, budget, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
• Oversee onboarding of new clients, collaborating on implementation plans, teams, and timelines.
• Ensure client service teams exceed client expectations and cultivate strong relationships with clients and carriers.
• Establish effective carrier/vendor relationships for benefits procurement and administration.
• Attend carrier events to stay current on carrier plans, changes, and maintain relationships.
• Maintain a full understanding of insurance markets, funding alternatives, networks, and benefit plan options.
• Ensure accuracy of client data in CRM and remain knowledgeable on compliance issues governed by legislation and regulations (HIPAA, ERISA, Tax Code SEC 125, PPACA, and state exchanges).

• 3+ years of benefits consulting experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree required, preferred. Valid life and health insurance license required.
• Ability to influence and interact with C‑suite members.
• Strong attention to detail, self‑motivated, and disciplined.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage workload.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Knowledge of health care reform, health, and ancillary insurance products.
• Practical knowledge of quoting process and tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with database applications.

The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $80,000 to $90,000 per year, based on skills, education, qualifications, professional experience and location. Some roles may be eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on performance.
