What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you a dedicated emergency management professional seeking your next rewarding challenge? Join our team! We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and self-driven Emergency Response Team (ERT) member to help develop, implement, maintain, and staff the Laboratory's internal Emergency Response Team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

Respond to 911 emergency and non-emergency calls within an incident command system, including hazardous materials, technical rescue, and medical emergencies.

Operate emergency vehicles and equipment to protect life, property, environment, and mission capabilities.

Implement emergency plans per local procedures, Federal laws, DOE orders, and industry best practices.

Coordinate with Kirtland Fire Emergency Services, local, State, federal agencies, DOE/NNSA, and Sandia personnel during incidents.

Provide specialized technical rescue support at Tonopah Test Range, collaborating with Air Force and other agencies.

Support incident command with expertise on Sandia emergency processes, hazards, and operations.

As a certified Hazardous Materials Technician, respond to hazardous substance releases, performing containment and mitigation.

Conduct technical rescues as a certified Confined Space and Rope Rescue Technician using advanced techniques.

Provide emergency first aid, including CPR and AED use.

Maintain operational readiness through training, drills, inspections, and equipment maintenance.

Integrate with emergency response teams to support Sandia priorities and participate in post-incident reviews.

Represent Sandia's emergency management program via hazard assessments, standby duties, and community outreach.

Provide subject matter expertise and training on Sandia facilities and hazards.

Develop and revise procedures, deliver training, evaluate performance, and contribute to organizational documents.

Assist in drills and exercises as a controller or evaluator.

Ensure readiness of emergency facilities, equipment, and materials for incident management.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$63,800 - $123,400

* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

High school diploma plus four (4) years of active emergency response experience, including hazardous materials, technical rescues, and emergency medical services.

Certification as Hazardous Materials Operations (OSHA 29 CFR ) or equivalent.

Completion of FEMA IC S-100, 200, 700 with demonstrated proficiency.

Experience delivering EMS and operating under OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and/or NFPA 470 standards.

Meet physical fitness and respirator fit-testing requirements per NFPA 1580.

Participate in medical surveillance for SCBA and Level A Chemical PPE use.

Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security…
